Chancellor's Staff
This staff is the symbol of authority of the Chancellor of the University of Craft and Thought. Although it has no innate magical powers of its own, Belimirar has been known to cast Daylight on the staff when using it.

High Dreamer’s Staff
This wooden staff belongs to the High Dreamer of the lizardmen, ZzerisS. Although the full extent of the staff’s powers are not known, it was used to transport Damalanthas, Euvgeni and Prince Fen-Reshk to a strange forest area on 2705:4:15.
Rod of Enemy Detection

This rod is four feet long and made of iron.

Powers: When the command word YMENEDNIF is spoken, this rod pulses in the wielder's hand and points in the direction of hostile creatures (nearest first) even if they are invisible or otherwise hidden. The rod has a range of 60 feet, and can be used three times per day, for ten minutes each time.

Campaign lore: This item was recovered from the elven palace in Miris on 2705:11:23. It is currently at Griffon Keep.

Rod of Withering
This rod is a masterpiece of necromantic engineering, much to Souriin's delight. This black-painted bone rod is approximately two and a half feet long and inscribed with particularly ghastly images of rended limbs.

Powers: This rod acts as a +1 light mace that deals no hit points damage. Instead, the wielder deals 1d4 points of temporary Strength damage and 1d4 points of temporary Constitution damage to any creature he touches with the rod (by making a melee touch attack). If he scores a critical hit, the damage from that hit is actually permanent ability drain. In either case the defender negates the effect with a Fortitudue save (DC 14).

Campaign lore: This rod was recovered from the beholder Voktarn's lair in 2694:9. It is currently on Deathwatch Isle.

Staff of Earth and Stone
This staff is tipped with a fist-sized emerald that gleams with smoldering power.

Powers: The staff allows the use of the following spells, each costing one charge:

  • Passwall
  • Move earth
The staff currently has 92 charges.

Campaign lore: Damalanthas retrieved this item from Camanthalar's tower early in 2705:7. It has been examined by the University staff and is currently stored at Griffon Keep.

Staff of Power
This staff is topped with glistening gems, its shaft straight and smooth.

Powers: The staff of power is a very potent magical item, with offensive and defensive abilities. The powers below cost one charge each:

  • continual flame
  • fireball (heightened to 5th level, 10d6, DC 17)
  • magic missile (5 missiles)
  • levitate
  • lightning bolt (heightened to 5th level, 10d6, DC 17)
  • ray of enfeeblement (heightened to 5th level, DC 17)
The following powers drain two charges each:
  • cone of cold (15d6, DC 15)
  • globe of invulnerability
  • hold monster (DC 14)
  • wall of force (in a 10-foot-diameter hemisphere around the caster only)
The wielder of a staff of power gains a +2 luck bonus to AC and saving throws. The staff is also a +2 quarterstaff, and its wielder may use it to smite opponents. If 1 charge is expended (as a free action), the staff causes double damage (x3 on a critical hit), for 1 round.

The staff can be broken for a retributive strike. This must be purposeful and declared by the person wielding it. When this is done all charges currently in the staff are instantly released in a 30-foot radius globe. All creatures within 10 feet of the broken staff take hit points of damage equal to eight times the number of charges in the staff, those between 11 feet and 20 feet take six times the number of charges in damage, and those 21 feet to 30 feet distant take four times the number of charges in damage. Successful Reflex saving throws (DC 17) reduce the damage sustained by half.

The character breaking the staff has a 50% chance of traveling to another plane of existence, but if he does not, the explosive release of spell energy totally destroys him

The staff has only 15 charges remaining.

Campaign lore: Damalanthas retrieved this powerful staff from Camanthalar's tower early in 2705:7, and gave it to Souriin two months later, in return for Souriin's Cloak of Protection and the Sword of Marinor Dragonhunter.

Staff of the Python
This is a 5-foot long, slender staff, with the top carved to resemble a snake's head.

Powers: The staff strikes as a +2 magical weapon and inflicts 1d6+2 points of damage when it hits. If the person wielding it throws it to the ground and speaks the command word NOHTYPEHT, it grows from its 5-foot length, becoming a giant constrictor snake, 25 feet long. This happens in one round. The python will return to its owner if the command word is spoken a second time. If it is destroyed while in snake form, the staff is destroyed.

Snake stats: 60 hp, +3 init, speed 20 ft., AC 15, +13 bite attack, damage 1d8+10, improved grab, constrict 1d8+10.

Campaign lore: This item was one of several gifts from Nesgasp to the Lords of Rotan in 2693:11. The note from Nesgasp, which was attached to this item, read:

I have entrusted this powerful staff to you in the hope that you will use it wisely. It once belonged to a close friend of mine, who is now deceased. If you are ever in great danger, hurl this staff to the ground, and speak its name in reverse. The creature which results will follow your commands – take care, it is none too bright. If the snake ever dies while in its python form, the staff will be lost. You can command it to return to staff form by speaking its name in reverse a second time. Use it wisely.
Joranth kept the staff very securely stored (and glyphed) at Dragondale. He bequeathed it to Souriin when he died in 2705:3. It is currently still in storage in Dragondale.
Wand of the Hag

This mottled red and black wand is 8 inches long. There is a rune on the wand's stem which is thought to mean 'curse'.

Powers: The device is rumoured to generate 10d6 fireballs, but if used by anybody of non-evil persuasion, there is a 5% chance per level of the user that the fireball will detonate on the wielder. The command word is thought to be DESRUCMAI.

Campaign lore: The Wand of the Hag was recovered from the hag's body after her demise in 2694:4. All that could be discovered about the Wand is that it can create fireballs. Because of the rune, nobody wanted to risk identifying it, and Damalanthas eventually turned it over to Sepyt Niam for safekeeping. Since then, Damalanthas has uncovered a Lerantun book describing a cursed wand of fireballs with the same description.

Wand of Webs
This grey wand has a spider carved into the side.

Powers: This wand contains 20 web spells (caster level 8).

Campaign lore: This item was recovered from the elven palace in Miris on 2705:11:23. It is currently at Griffon Keep.
