Bloodletter
Bloodletter is an enchanted longsword, forged from a glowing green material. The sword has a brash forceful personality and seems determined to slay any reptiles or anything resembling a reptile (the sword can't seem to tell the difference). The sword usually communicates with Flash in a gruff voice easily heard by people close by. It can communicate with Flash telepathically, but does so rarely.

Powers: +3 bonus; wounds caused by Bloodletter continue to bleed, causing up to 5 hit points of damage each round until magically healed; detect reptiles within 30 ft.; detect magic within 10 ft.; detect invisibility within 10 ft.; critical blows against reptiles automatically decapitate their target unless the target makes a Fort save (DC 15); Bloodletter does triple damage against dragons.

Languages: Bloodletter speaks elven, orcish, and one other (unknown) tongue.

Stats: Int 17, Wis 12, Cha 14, Alignment CN, Ego 20

Campaign lore: Flash obtained Bloodletter while undertaking a quest for Beloni sometime in mid-2705.

Dagger of the Mer-cohl
The daggers of the Mer-cohl were originally used by a clandestine group of dwarven assassins in the great dwarf-elf wars more than two millennia ago. Although this dagger offers its wielder a bonus during combat, its intrinsic value as a 2000-year-old magical dagger far outweighs this power. It gives off a quiet hum when first drawn and glows with a gentle red light after it has drawn blood. For some reason, it never needs cleaning.

Powers: +3 enchantment bonus.

Campaign lore: This blade was part of Voktarn the beholder's horde, plundered in 2694:9. Artak keeps the dagger in his laboratory in Dragondale.

Defender
Defender is a magnificent bastard sword. Unlike many powerful swords, Defender does not glow, but it does make a loud slicing sound ("shhhwish") when used in combat.

Powers: +5 enchantment bonus; Defender has the Expertise Feat and can take a penalty of up to 5 on its enchantment bonus and add the same number (up to +5) to its wielder's Armour Class, this ability is under the control of the blade's wielder.

Campaign lore: Defender was recovered from the buried desert city in 2705:9. Euvgeni usually carries it with him.

Destrith’s bow
This magnificent longbow hums with unnatural beauty. Occasionally the bow appears to waver slightly as if it is not entirely there.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus; allows wielder to see and fire into the ethereal and shadow planes, and can harm creatures on those planes.

Campaign lore: In 2702, during a visit to the faerie lands with Damalanthas, Destrith made a pact with the Summer Queen. In return for Destrith’s continue vigilance against the Shadow Court the elf was given this magical bow. The bard is sure that this bow once belonged to Flash.

Dirge
This magical longsword was christened Dirge by Damalanthas in 2693. It is a fine blade which glows faintly in the dark.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus; glows in the dark.

Campaign lore: This magical sword was first offered for auction as a trick by slavers during 2693:5. Once the slavers had been brought to justice, the Lords were given the sword as a reward. It was carried by Flash until 2693:10:15, when he gave it to Damalanthas in return for Damalanthas' share of the elven sword which had just been found. (This was Mirthros Detriast, better known as Blue Biter. Perhaps if Damalanthas had known what chaos was to ensue from the Flash/Blue Biter combination, he would have been in less of a hurry to do the swap!)

Dirge was damaged by the fiery attack of an elemental late in the year 2693, and, as a result, it lost its magical abilities. After Damalanthas had established that the magical weapon would function properly once more if it was re-tempered whilst under the influence of an enchant an item spell, he enlisted the help of Souriin Draco and Jimmy MacCaret to mend the blade. He now carries with him.

Gutting dagger
The gutting dagger resembles a normal dagger with a slightly longer hilt. It has a deeply serrated edge which when used in combat can do severe internal damage to an opponent (hence its name), unfortunately the blade is weaker than that of a standard dagger and sometimes breaks during combat. The first such blade made by a weaponsmith will cost 50 gp. Thereafter, each gutting dagger will cost 10 gp.

Powers: This weapon is similar to a dagger, but with a slightly different critical hit value. While the blade still does x2 damage on a natural roll of 19, it does x3 damage on a roll of 20. However, on a natural roll of 1, the blade snaps.

Campaign lore: The first gutting dagger was designed by Souriin Draco.

Halfling scimitar
This exotic weapon was designed specially for use by a halfling. It has a slightly thinner blade than a usual scimitar, but is also sharper. The first such blade made by any weaponsmith will cost 100 gp. Thereafter, each halfling scimitar will cost 20 gp.

Powers: This weapon functions as a normal scimitar, but with a critical hit value of x3 instead of 18-20/x2.

Campaign lore: Joranth designed this weapon and was proficient in its use. The blade was left with Joranth's body after his death in 2705:3.

Life Blade
This fine rapier has several identical runes etched into the hand-guard. The rune has been identified as an archaic word meaning "life". Originally, the blade had nine identical runes on the hand guard. One of the runes vanished when Flash struck a skeletal warrior during 2694:5 and another disappeared when Damalanthas killed Jimmy MacCaret on 2705:2:16. Seven runes still remain on the blade.

Powers: This weapon has a +2 enchantment bonus, but it also has the power to drain the life force from an opponent. A critical hit must be dealt (and be a natural 20) for the sword's death-dealing ability to function. The victim is entitled to a Fort saving throw (DC 17) to avoid death. If the save succeeds, the sword does not expend a charge, and normal critical damage is determined.

Penalties: Good characters gain two negative levels while wielding the Life Blade.

Campaign lore: This magical rapier is known by several names: including the Plundered Rapier, the Life Blade and the Blade of Nine Lives. It was given to Flash by Sir Olman Penthew for saving him from the elven vampire, Forestbane, late in 2693. In 2698:5, Damalanthas obtained the Life Blade from Flash. He and Euvgeni both used it occasionally, but in 2705, after Jimmy’s death, Damalanthas decided that the blade was too dangerous and returned it to Flash for safekeeping. Flash hid it very well in an undisclosed location for some time, but has been seen carry it himself again recently.

Longbow of the Plains
This bow was made of a supple wood native to the northern plains and decorated with feathers.

Powers: Increased range increment of 110 ft.

Campaign lore: This bow was a gift from the plainsmen to Damalanthas in 2693:11. Damalanthas used this trusty bow for over ten years, and although it required occasional repairs, it remained the bard’s favourite bow until it was destroyed by Dagaronzie’s breath in 2705:4.

Longtooth
This blade appears to be a normal dagger, but when wielded by a gnome or halfling it lengthens and functions as a short sword. Even when functioning in this way, it remains as light and handy to use as a dagger. Longtooth penetrates wood or stone as easily as it does softer material.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus; when wielded by a halfling or gnome, it never weighs more that 1 lb. and treats wood and stone as having a hardness of 0.

Campaign lore: Joranth discovered Longtooth on board an abandoned marine vessel on 2693:10:15. He used to wear Longtooth on his belt, but bequeathed the blade to Warrath when he died in 2705:3.

Mirthos Destriast
This fearsome blade was a finely-crafted broadsword with amazing destructive powers. In the Rod of Time timeline, it was a tool of massive destruction in the hands of Flash. At one point, Flash even became trapped in the sword himself. The sword was also known for its ability to attract lightning (which it used to re-energise itself) and its ability to appear from no-where at the sound of its name. Mirthos Destriast was also known as Blue Biter.

Powers: +3 enchantment bonus; can be called on demand; energy strike.

Campaign lore: This blade does not exist in the current timeline, probably because Flash originally obtained it from any earlier point in time, which would not have been possible in the current timeline. Oddly, the sword’s twin does exist in this timeline.

Short Sword of Quickness
As well as enhancing its wielder's speed in combat, this short sword also has the unusual property that its grip always remains warm to the touch. This makes it easy to tell apart from other swords in the pitch dark if there is no possible light source and you happen to have dropped a whole bucket full of short swords just before being attacked and you really need to find this particular one in a hurry. It's also quite handy in winter.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus; the owner of this blade gets one single extra attack each round at his highest bonus; always warm to the touch.

Campaign lore: This was one of the Priesthood of Lillyos's treasures, discovered in 2694:9. It now belongs to Flash.

Skullswords
These plain looking longswords are well-crafted, but unremarkable except for a small skull etched into their hilts.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus.

Campaign lore: These six swords were recovered from the six death knights who lead Despar Sharn’s legion during the attack on Rotan in 2694:9. These swords languished in storage in Dragondale for a decade before Li’kik’r unearthed them during a house-cleaning spree. Euvgeni first used one during the daring attack on the Soul Crystal, and has kept it handy ever since.

Sonya's broadsword
This broadsword is made in a style favoured by some elven nobility.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus

Campaign lore: This sword was discovered in Camanthalar's tower on 2693:10:15. It originally belonged to Euvgeni, but was used by Joranth from time to time. Euvgeni had it until 2694:5, when he gave it to Sonya as a parting gift.

Stun bolts
These bolts looked the same as any other crossbow bolts when they were first round. The aarokocrans have since marked them with a stylised leaf to distinguish them.

Powers: These special crosbow quarrels shatter into dust-sized motes on impact, releasing a stunning magical shock of force that does an additional 2d4 damage to any being struck. Victims of a stun bolt strike are unable to think or act coherently for the round following the hit (no saving throw). Only living things (not undead or objects) are affected by the shock effect. The quarrels can be used with any type of crossbow.

Campaign lore: Nine of these bolts were recovered from the buried desert city in 2705:9. Flash gave them to the aarokocrans shortly thereafter.

Sword of Marinor Dragonhunter
When unsheathed, this magnificent longsword glows very brightly. The hilt has Marinor Dragonhunter's initials engraved on it as part of a stylised dragon's head.

Powers: +3 enchantment bonus; glows continuously as if subjected to a daylight spell.

Campaign lore: Souriin, Tekuna and companions originally found this powerful sword early in 2693:4. Shadow Kaylar used it until his death later that month. When Shadow died, Souriin inherited it. He let Euvgeni use it until 2693:9, when it was then left at Dragondale. Although it was buried under the ruins of Dragondale for some time, it was eventually recovered.

A few months after the blade was recovered, it was discovered that the sword used to belong to Marinor Dragonhunter. Ayak reacted very badly to seeing it in 2694:4, muttering something about his father being slain by it. In 2694:6, Souriin gave up the blade to White Lion, the leader of the Catz in return for a future favour. White Lion was Dragonhunter's grandson.

On 2705:6:15, Souriin visited the White Lion on his deathbed. The White Lion explained to the mage that he did not want his son (Pan) to continue to carry the sword of Marinor Dragonhunter. He had had a vision about the destiny of both the sword and his son, and wished to return the sword to Souriin. He said that the sword is “to be given to the Shadow Queen as payment”. Shortly after this last conversation, the White Lion succumbed to swamp fever and died. In 2705:9, Souriin gave the sword (and some other items) to Damalanthas, in return for the Staff of Power.

Swords of the Guardians
These longswords are made of solid silver and bear the inscription 'Guardian of Feroll'. They have been valued at between 3,000 and 8,000 gp a piece.

Campaign lore: This set of five swords were presented to the heroes who protected Feroll city from the invading Tilloniti army in 2693:12. Artak lost his sword in 2694:4, dropping it in order to save Damalanthas' life. Tekuna sold her blade in Pirs, in 2694:5. Euvgeni's blade is kept on his estate in Outreach City. Damalanthas keeps his sword hanging above his desk in his office at the RMA. It has a magic mouth cast on it, to warn any would-be thieves of the dire consequences of stealing the bard’s property. Joranth left his sword to his children when he died in 2705:3. Warrath now carries it with him.

Twin
This sword is a finely-crafted bastard sword.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus.

Campaign lore: This is the twin of Mirthos Destriast (also known as “Blue Biter”). Not much is known about the twin sword, except that it was made in order to control Blue Biter. It was first found on 2693:10:15, and was carried by Euvgeni until 2694:1:1, when it was decided it might be better to keep them together. Flash then carried the sword and still had it when Blue Biter was destroyed 2694:2:25. Flash eventually gave the sword back to Euvgeni as a wedding present in 2694:4, and Kyra now uses it during training exercises. Euvgeni has been known to occasionally borrow this blade from Kyra.

Two-bladed sword
This fine twin-bladed weapon is meant to be used as a double weapon.

Powers: +2 enchantment bonus

Campaign lore: This item was recovered from the elven palace in Miris on 2705:11:23. It is currently at Griffon Keep.

Urgari battleaxes
These finely crafted battleaxes have the sigil of a dwarven craftsmen on their blades. They are of masterwork quality and have been valued at 310 gp.

Powers: +1 masterwork bonus.

Campaign lore: Three of these blades were taken from some hired strong men on 2693:10:15. One was given to Joranth by Flash. Joranth immediately entreated it to a southbound group of mercenaries. Several months later, the mercenaries delivered the axe to Rotan. Joranth left his axe to Euvgeni when he died in 2705:3. It is currently in storage in Dragondale. Souriin and Flash gave a second axe to Bolyan as a gift in 2693:11. The fate of the third axe is unrecorded.
