Athalar’s transportation device
After a surprise visit to his half-brother Souriin on 2705:3:5, Athalar activated a strange disk-like device and teleported away. Nothing further is known about this device.
Barding of Flight

This is leather barding for a horse or similar mount.

Powers: When fitted to a mount, this barding automatically sizes itself to suit the creature's size and shape. When the command word (SGNIWEKAM) is spoken, a set of feathery wings graft themselves onto the mount, granting the beast the ability to fly.

The mount can fly up to six hours (speed 60, average maneuverability) before needing to rest. For each hour of flight, the mount must rest one hour. If a mount is forced to fly beyond the six-hour limit there is a risk that the wings will simply disappear.

Campaign lore: This was recovered from the buried desert city in 2705:9. It belongs to Flash but is currently stored at Griffon Keep.

Casoe’s Cube of Force
The cube is about the size of a large die – perhaps ¾ of an inch across.

Powers: The cube enables its possessor to put up a wall of force 10 feet per side around his or her person. This cubic screen moves with the character and is impervious to the attack forms shown on the table below. The cube has 36 charges, and this energy is restored each day. The holder presses one face of the cube to activate or deactivate the field.

Campaign lore: This was originally given to Casoe Quantamine early in 2693. After Casoe’s disappearance, Sepyt Niam seems to have somehow ended up in possession of this useful device. On 2705:3:6, Sepyt gave the cube to Tekuna.

Chain of Transport
This chain is constructed of a weird, black metal. Most of the time, the Chain of Transport is small enough to be worn as a bracelet. It is activated by being looped into a figure eight. Once activated, the metal loops stretch magically to fit as many as twelve people, six in each loop.

Powers: Once activated, this magical device will transport up to twelve people to any location pointed out on a map. The accurate of the transportation seems to depend on the level of detail shown on the map.

Campaign lore: This useful device was a gift from Nevril Leach to Tekuna in order to promote business discussions between them.

Decanter of poisoned liqueur
This is a cheap decanter fill with strong alcoholic smelling liquid.

Powers: DC 16, initial damage 2d12 hp, secondary damage 1d6 Con.

Campaign lore: This was part of the loot taken from Motrok's tower in 2694:2. Analysis revealed this to be non-magical, but Artak was able to determine that the liqueur is laced with sassone leaf. Joranth left it to Damus when he died in 2705:3. It is currently in storage at Dragondale.

Disk of the Far-sight
This is a fairly plain ceramic disk with an encircled eye on it.

Campaign Lore: The disk was a gift from the child-goddess Rotan to Damalanthas on his 32nd birthday (2705:7:7), along with the message "the disk of the far-sight once belonged to she-who-revealed-the-Overmind. Its presence is sorely missed by the Penrith Resistance".

Damalanthas' ongoing experiments with the Disk have had mixed results. During his first success he was able to get the Eye open and sense several "minds" -- one to the west, and at least one to the north. On 2705:10:22 he used the Disk to see Li'kik'r sitting across a table from The Hood at a remote location near the ocean. He also discovered that the Eye can be used to detect some sort of psionic radiance, but he is not sure how this works.

On 2705:11:3, the bard viewed and spoke to a man claiming to be a member of the "Penrith Resistance" through the Eye. However, just two days later (2705:11:5), Damalanthas was abducted by the Overmind during a follow-up experiment. Shortly before his abduction, the Disk flooded his mind with information about the nature of psionic powers. Unfortunately, Damus has not quite been himself since his abduction, and it is unclear how much of this information he has retained.

Dragon Paintings
There were originally twelve of these paintings. Five of them pictured metallic dragons – gold, silver, brass, bronze and copper; five pictured chromatic dragons – red, blue, green, black and white. One of remaining two paintings showed an empty landscape and the other was completely blank.

Damalanthas recently discovered that the paintings probably originated centuries earlier during the time before the creation of the Great Desert. It was originally thought that the dragon pictured was the most powerful of its species, but this now seems less likely.

After the Battle of Dragondale, two of the paintings were destroyed and Beloni took a third. Early on the morning of the Trollish invasion of Rotan, Inura discovered that most of the remainder had been stolen. Only the empty painting and the black dragon painting remained.

The current status of the paintings is summarised below:

Fey seeds
Damus obtained some strange seeds from the lands of the fey during a visit there in 2702, but has not dared to eat them, plant them or use them in any way. He has thought of giving them to some of the students at the University and seeing what happens. They are kept in Damalanthas’ quarters in the Rotan Palace.
Flying Carpet

The carpet is 6 ft. by 9ft. in size. Red dominates the weave.

Powers: This rug is able to fly through the air as if affected by a fly spell of unlimited duration. If the carpet is within voice range, the command word GUROESIRA activates it, whether the speaker is on the rug or not. The carpet is then controlled by spoken direction. This particular specimen has a capacity of 1200 lb. and  a maximum speed of 120 ft. It weighs 15 lb.

Campaign lore: This carpet was a gift from Hestarr ‘Neff Said to Damus at the beginning of the Council of War (2705:5).

Githyanki coins
After fighting a group of githyanki in the Amber Wastelands, Euvgeni retrieved a few gold coins from the bodies of the slain creatures. The mint of the coins in unlike any others.
Horseshoes of Speed

These iron shoes comes in a set of four, like ordinary horseshoes.

Powers: When affixed to  a horse's hooves, they double the animal's speed. All four shoes must be worn by the same animal for the magic to be effective.

Campaign lore: These horseshoes were one of the seven treasures given out by the ruler of Proxima in 2694:9. Ammandor shod his horse (Ammandal) with them, but was only able to use the horse for a short period of time before having to abandon it at the village of End. Wanwier returned the horse (with shoes) to him later the same month, but Ammandal was killed in action shortly after his return. Ammandor did not have an opportunity to retrieve the shoes, and they seem to have now been lost.

Jar of Preserving
The jar is large, with a volume of about one cubic foot. It has a screw-on glass lid.

Powers: The jar puts any organic matter placed inside it, into suspended animation. It is ideal for keeping exotic spell components or herbs in.

Campaign lore: This is one of the seven treasures given out by the ruler of Proxima in 2694:9. Artak keeps it in his laboratory.

Joranth’s black box
In his last will and testament, Joranth requested that Souriin Draco take a black box marked with the symbol of death from his spell pouch and destroy it completely. He warned Souriin not to open the box. Souriin left the box closed, but did not destroy it. Instead he placed it in a sealed metal urn filled with sand. The urn is marked "Extremely Hazardous. Do not move suddenly." and is standing in the corner of Souriin's quarters at the University of Craft and Thought.

Unbeknown to Souriin, this box contains all of Joranth's notes and spell components for his necromantic spells. This includes:

  • Two vials of blood (Joranth's)
  • Some vials of dwarven spirits, in which some sort of tissue is suspended
  • Some bone-shards and grave dirt
  • Some notes on summoning and commanding undead as well as some descriptions of types of undead creatures

Joranth’s bracers
Joranth wore a set of thick metal bands strapped to his forearms. Inscribed with wolves’ heads, these bracers acted as the halfling’s holy symbol. Joranth’s bracers were left with his body after his death in 2705:3. There is a persistent rumour among halflings that after Joranth’s death, the wolf symbols on the bracers were replaced by the smiling face of an unknown female halfling.
Luckstone

This small stone brings luck to its bearer.

Powers: +1 to all saves; +1 to ability checks; +1 to skill checks; the stone cannot be damaged by any normal blow – only a blow from a magical weapon, or a blow of extraordinary power will damage it in any way.

Campaign lore: This magical stone was found in Camanthalar's tower on 2693:10:15. Euvgeni carried this marvellous stone until he got married in 2694. He then gave it to Flash as a parting gift. Later that year, Flash was attacked by a fire elemental and the luckstone lost its powers. Fortunately, when Souriin has the time to examine the stone a few years later, he was able to mend it simply by deep-freezing it.

Magic Dampening Spheres
These items are large white spheres, several feet in diameter.

Powers: The spheres have a dampening effect on all magic in the area. They give a +8 bonus to any saves against spells and reduce areas of effect and damage by 20-80% (depending on the exact sphere). The exact range of the effect also seems to vary from sphere to sphere.

Campaign lore: One of these large white spheres was a gift to New Ivrea from the Wizard of the Moon, just before the Council of War in 2705:5. Several more are rumoured to have been taken from the desert and taken to Sunhaven. Baron Vuntar was also known to have one at some point.

Message Tubes
These short ceramic tubes have an icon of an ear on one end and and icon of lips on the other.

Powers: Someone speaking into the lips-end of one of the tubes can be heard by anyone listening to the ear-end of any of the others.

Campaign lore: Five of these tubes were given to the Lords in 2705:5 by Nesgasp. Souriin, Damalanthas, Euvgeni and Tekuna still have theirs, Owen gave his tube to Panagiotis during a visit to Outreach on 2705:11:3. It is widely suspected that Nesgasp also has a Tube.

Plague sample
For some strange reason (probably to do with an idea for a recipe) Artak owns a container with a sample of plague material. This is from the plague that struck Rotan during the last two months of 2693. Artak helped cure the plague at the end of 2694, which is when he obtained his specimen. It may not be in Artak's best interest to keep this item, since Damalanthas seems to find it too useful a bargaining tool.
Sceptre of Might

The Sceptre of Might is also known as the Sceptre of Cavnaz Elovich. The sceptre is just under five feet long, slightly more than an inch thick and made of metal. It has a flanged ball at one end and a series of six studs along its length.

Powers: In 2697:3, during a short visit to Outreach, Souriin established that the sceptre is a very powerful item. The following spell-like functions of the Sceptre can be used once per day:

  • Hold person upon touch, if the wielder speaks the word GNIVOMTON before striking (DC 14). A successful melee touch attack is needed to activate the power. If the attack fails, the effect is lost.
  • Fear upon all enemies viewing it (DC 16), if the wielder speaks the word ECIDRAWOC. This effect has a 10 foot maximum range. Invoking this power is a standard action.
  • Drain 2d4 hit points from an opponent on a successful touch attack (DC 17) and bestow them upon the wielder, up to his normal maximum. The wielder must say the word EMOTREWOP before attacking. This draining damage is in addition to any other damage the blow inflicts.
In additional to these functions, the sceptre has a range of other powers, some activated by pressing one of the six studs along it. These power have no limit on their use. Pushing any of the rod's buttons is equivalent to drawing a weapon.
  • In its normal form, the sceptre can be used as a +2 light mace.
  • Stud 1: A blade springs from the ball and the ball becomes a hilt. The weapon becomes a +1 flaming long sword. This sword glows with an inner light similar to faerie fire and in battle this glow grows to flames which do +1d6 points of bonus fire damage.
  • Stud 2: As above, a blade springs from the ball of the sceptre and the weapon alters in size and shape to form a +4 battle axe.
  • Stud 3: Depending on how hard the third stud is pressed, the sceptre reforms to make a +3 spear, from 6 feet to 15 feet in length (treat as a short spear or a long spear, as appropriate). At 15 feet, it can also be used as a lance.
  • Stud 4: When stud 4 is pushed, a spike that can anchor in granite is extruded from the ball, while the other end sprouts three sharp hooks. The sceptre lengthens from 5 to 50 feet in a single round, stopping when stud 4 is pushed again. Horizontal bars, 3 inches long, fold out from the sides, 1-foot apart, in staggered progression. The sceptre is firmly held by spike and hooks and bears up to 4,000 pounds of weight. This function can also be used to force open doors. The  sceptre’s base is planted 30 feet or less from the portal to be forced and in line with it. The force exerted has a +12 Strength bonus.
  • Stud 5: This stud returns the sceptre to its normal form after any one of the above changes.

  • Stud 6: When this stud is pressed, the sceptre shows magnetic north and gives the owner an approximate depth beneath the surface of the ground (or height above it).

Sceptre of Mundiree
Little is known about this legendary sceptre, except that it is a critical part of the Ritual of Metroffen. Its last known location was the Council Tower in Waterloaf, from where it was taken by the invading lizardfolk in 2705:2. The sceptre resembles a stylised spoon, representing the nurturing of Mundiree, the halfling goddess. Just before his death in 2705:3, Joranth refused to used the sceptre to kill Prince Fen-Reshk of the lizardfolk.
Sheet of Smallness

This appears to be nothing more than a well-made sheet of linen with a swirling pattern on one side.

Powers: The sheet causes any magical item wrapped within it to shrink to 1/12 its normal size and weight. If the item is then wrapped in the sheet so as to be touching the reverse (unpatterned) side of the material, it will grow back to its normal size and weight. Note that this item has no effect on artifacts or living material — it affects only non-living, ordinary magical items — and no item shrunk in this fashion is functional or usable while in reduced form. Change in size requires two rounds to accomplish, either in shrinking or restoring to normal size.

Campaign lore: Damalanthas retrieved this item from Camanthalar's tower early in 2705:7. It has been examined by the University staff and is currently stored at Griffon Keep.

Souriin's secret chest
Souriin keeps his travelling spellbooks in this Leomund's secret chest. The chest is made from beautifully carved rosewood and all of its corner fittings and nails are made of pure platinum. In order to recall this chest, Souriin keeps a tiny replica of it with him at all times.

Sslisua’s necklace
The lizardmen priestess Sslisua used her necklace to detect if Damalanthas was telling the truth several times before her death in the Ruined City of Je-Lorak. The necklace was left in the Ruined City when the Lords left.
Tilloniti land deeds

Each of these deeds is for a large tract of arable land on the island of Tilloniti, 20 acres in size. Just prior to the destruction of Tillon City, each piece of land was worth roughly 5,000 gp.

Campaign lore: These land deeds were given to Tekuna, Euvgeni, Artak, Joranth and Damalanthas after their help in 2693:12. The deeds are kept in the Rotan Vaults. Damalanthas met Roleen Cassandra whilst building a manor house on his land during 2698:1. Joranth left his land to Artak when he died in 2705:3.

Transfer points
Both Souriin and Damalanthas have a number of transfer points prepared for use with Souriin’s spacial transferral. Souriin has arcane marked several permanent locations whilst Damalanthas prefers to use less permanent woven mats. Souriin’s current transfer points and the locations of Damalanthas’ mats are listed below:

Souriin Damalanthas
Deathwatch Isle
Dragondale
Dragondale Lerantu
Lemonaris New Ivrea
Rotan Palace Pirs
University Rotan Palace

Underworld pendant
This pendant was found inside a halfling tomb in Waterloaf on 2705:3:18. It seems to have been the reason that a portal to the underworld remained open beyond the limits of the spell used to create it. Joranth threw the pendant into the portal in an attempt to close it.
Wanwier’s necklace

Whilst exploring the cellar of the University of Pirs on 2705:3:15 Tekuna found a broken necklace with a small symbol of a thief’s lock-pick on it. Later conversations with Wanwier revealed that this is probably the item responsible for enchanting Wanwier during the time he ruled Pirs. It burnt a dagger shaped scar on Wanwier’s chest. Souriin detected strong abjuration magic emanating from the necklace.
War Drums

Joranth obtained these drums during the time he spent in the Ruined City in 2699. After the plucky halfling’s death in 2705:3, King Anwell asked to have the drums moved to the Rotan Palace, where they were on display in a glass cabinet with a plaque in memoriam to the fallen halfling. On 2705:9:19, these drums were stolen from the Rotan Palace and their current whereabouts is unknown.

In the last two months, a rumour has begun to circulate amongst the halflings in Rotan that Joranth's spirit will not be able to truly rest until these war drums are used in battle.

Wreath of the Seas
This necklace is made of an aquatic plant, similar to sea-weed.

Powers: This necklace enables the wearer to breathe even in the deepest oceans. The wearer can breathe either salt or fresh water as if it was fresh air. The necklace must be kept damp. If ever it dries out, it will lose its potency and never work again.

Campaign lore: The wreath was a gift to Tekuna from the sea elves towards the end of 2693. The wreath used to be kept in a fishbowl in Tekuna’s flat in Rotan, but after her visit to the sea elf community in 2705:4, the necklace was lost.
