Souriin announces that he is retiring
from active duty as a Lord of Rotan.
Flash returns from the west, having
completed a quest for Beloni. He now carries a new blade, forged of a magical
green material.
2705:6:1-10
Ghazal Nikrig reports that Li’kik’r
has vanished from Dragondale. No trace of the strange insect creature can
be found.
Queen Allys’ agents intercept a wagon,
carrying a large quantity of Sunhaven gold, heading towards Baron Vuntar’s
desert stronghold.
A letter arrives from Artak describing
his journey to find the source of the smoke powder. The letter indicates
that Artak will be returning to Rotan soon.
The trickle of dwarves fleeing the
deteriorating situation in Urgari becomes a steady flood. Most of the refugees
head towards Lerantu and Simipia, but some end up in Rotan.
Portions of the halfling procession
travelling
north split off and march towards Miris and Lerantu. The remainder of the
group continues on towards Rotan.
The Manticorum move into their new
home at Griffon Keep. They begin establish the Keep as a base for adventurers
to train and trade magical items.
2705:6:11-20
Veros Paithen, the elven ambassador
to Rotan, is recalled to Miris. He is later replaced by Jillay Promethias.
On his deathbed, the White Lion returns
the sword of Marinor Dragonhunter to Souriin Draco. Cryptically, before
he dies, he says that the sword is “to be given to the Shadow Queen as
payment”.
A new Pirsian government is sworn
in. On behalf of Outreach, Euvgeni negotiates a beneficial trade deal with
the new government.
The Waterloavian Army forms under
the leadership of Kellan the Sword.
Nevril Leach, head of the powerful
Agari Trading Company, begins talks with Tekuna Chand to explore an alliance
between Agari and the RMA.
2705:6:21-30
The new Pirsian government signs
an agreement with the University of Craft and Thought to establish the
Pirsian College of Wizardry. Shortly afterwards, Souriin resigns as the
Chancellor of the University of Craft and Thought. Belimirar is appointed
as the new Chancellor.
Souriin begins to establish project
Deathwatch on the Bird Islands. He discovers that a dragon has devastated
the Wizard of the Moon’s island.
Disease breaks out in Feroll. The
situation is made worse by overcrowding caused by all of the refugees from
neighbouring Tilloniti.
A group of representatives from Outreach
(including Dranbur the giant) visit the Giantdowns.
2705:7:1-10
The Pirsian Government leads talks
to establish an Ivrean Council.
Damalanthas visits Camanthalar’s
tower in the elven capital of Miris és Lirias-Tora. He recovers
several magical items and spell books from the tower.
The ruler of the dwarven nation –
King Kanharn – is assassinated. The dark elves use this opportunity to
gain ground in the underground war. As a result of the collapse of the
dwarven kingdom, the price of metal goods climbs steeply.
On his birthday, Damalanthas collapses
in the streets of Rotan. During a subsequent vision, the child-goddess
Rotan gives him the Disk of Far-sight as a gift.
The halfling procession with Joranth’s
body arrives in Rotan. Damalanthas invites several halfling families to
settle in New Ivrea.
2705:7:11-20
Hastarr sends word from the desert
that Baron Vuntar appears to have uncovered some ancient ruins, and has
set up camp there. It is likely that the ruins are the source of the magical
items.
The flow of dwarven refugees from
Urgari becomes overwhelming. The combination of halfling immigrants and
dwarven refugees stretches resources in Nedgari and Rotan to the limit.
Word comes from Lerantu that the situation there is even more dire – Governor
du Rant has had to close the city walls to prevent the city from being
overwhelmed.
Dagaronzie attacks one of the Dragon
Watch units near Outreach.
The Waterloaf Council moves back
to Waterloaf (from its temporary home in Rotan).
Souriin assembles six mages to assist
him with project Deathwatch. They begin building a base on one of the remotest
of the Bird Islands.
The Outreach expedition to the Giantdowns
returns with the news that the giants are fighting a fierce war with the
beholders.
2705:7:21-30
The previous elven ambassador –
Veros Paithen – send a warning that all is not as it seems within the elven
nation. He claims that the elves are suppressing news of their war against
the snake-people and that they have been suffering serious losses.
Lurik Mien – head of the Church of
Artafor in Rotan – proudly announces a planned visit to Rotan by the elven
King. This will be the first time the King has left the elven lands for
over 200 years.
The collapse of the Mind Crystal
market in Simipia leads to a massive shake up between the trading Houses.
Many of the oldest Houses collapse entirely. When the dust settles, only
five Houses remain in the northern city.
Dagaronzie makes another well-planned
attack on Outreach. The dragon specifically targets Euvgeni’s home. Kyra
and Euvgeni’s children manage to escape the attack, thanks to the heroic
actions of a young Dragon Watch guardsman, named Kir Potenis. Unfortunately,
one of the twins is quite badly injured in the attack.
2705:8:1-10
The lizardmen rename their nation
from “Hlussas” to “SseS”, which means simply “new”. During a family visit
to the new lizardmen city for the naming ceremony, one of Euvgeni's twin
accidentally upsets a smoking brazier. Consequently, ZzerisS the Highdreamer
gives him the lizard name “Kess-shazz” (which means “fire-heart”).
The Crusaders of the Inked Sword
forms in Waterloaf. It is an organisation dedicated to the preservation
and protections of halflings (and other little people).
Queen Allys is putting a lot of effort
into stopping Baron Vuntar's activities, but not one of the mercenary groups
she has sent to hunt down the Baron is successful.
The Marine Traders’ Consortium purchases
several of the largest vessels in the Pirsian fleet. They aim to set up
regular shipping routes along the east and north coasts.
2705:8:11-20
Elections are held in Lerantu. Orik
the Bold somehow manages to beat Governor Du Rant. Despite accusations
of vote rigging and corruption, Orik becomes the new Governor of Lerantu.
Shortly afterwards, ex-Governor Du Rant flees Lerantu with his wife Helen,
following threats on both their lives.
King Anwell calls for a second Council
of War to be held, and makes a one-time donation of 250,000 gold coins
towards the development of New Ivrea
Damalanthas tracks down Urak, a recent
dwarven settler and a master weapon-smith. He may be able to fix Damus
damaged Manticorum blade.
2705:8:21-30
Veros Paithen sends another message
to Giffon Keep warning of some sort of elven conspiracy. He also reports
that Camanthalar’s tower has been attacked and partially destroyed, apparently
by a dragon
The Blight closest to Rotan mysteriously
dissipates. Owen investigates and discovers that the Blight Crystal has
somehow been destroyed. He is able to salvage enough crystal fragments
to fashion a replacement for his own crystals.
Lurik Mien claims that recent investigations
by the church have revealed that Damalanthas Quithas was the person behind
the theft of the third and final wish from Rotan’s ring of wizardry, more
than a decade earlier. King Anwell requests that Damalanthas presents himself
in Rotan to answer this accusation.
The elderly owl Archimedes dies.
At the same time, on Deathwatch Isle, Souriin Draco falls into a coma.
A raven which has been circling in the skies above the island for several
days lands at the end of Souriin’s bed.
2705:9:1-10
Flash obtains a potion from Sepyt
Niam and travels to Deathwatch Isle to assist Souriin. The mage recovers
and the strange raven replaces Archimedes as his familiar.
Wanwier is kidnapped from the Temple
of Rotan. Damalanthas tries to contact Wanwier, but only manages to communicate
very briefly with him. Wanwier says “protect Artak – the elves want both
of us”.
Investigations by Tekuna Chand implicate
the elven royal guards in the kidnapping. Embarrassed by this chain of
events, Lurik drops the charges against Damalanthas. The elven King’s visit
is cancelled – allegedly because of insufficient security.
Dark elves seize control of the remains
of the city of Urgari and close off the mountain entrance to the outside
world. It is assumed that all of the remaining dwarves are killed or enslaved.
At the University, there is an outbreak
of a viral spell. Emergency measures are introduced to prevent further
contamination.
2705:9:11-20
Nesgasp sends a dream to Flash,
Souriin, Damalanthas and Euvgeni. They learn the story of the people who
once lived where the Great Desert now lies. An obsessed and twisted mage
named Amurat is sealed in the city buried beneath the desert.
The Lords are transported to the
site of Baron Vuntar's excavations -- a place he has named Paradise.
They meet Hastarr ‘neff Said, who resigns his position as a member of the
Manticorum. After meeting up with Baron Vuntar, they form a partnership
with him to finish excavating the ruins.
While the excavations continue, Amurat
seizes control of one of the Baron’s henchman and attempts to break free
of the inner chambers. He is stopped by the heroes.
At New Ivrea, the second Council
of War commences.
2705:9:21-30
The historic Treaty of New Ivrea
is signed, establishing an Ivrean Council. The Council is to direct regional
preparations for the coming trollish invasion. Representatives from Béray,
Lerantu, Meldora, Outreach, Pirs, Rotan, Simipia, Tillon and Waterloaf
sign the treaty.
A teleportation accident causes the
government of Pirs to ban magical transportation in the nation.
2705:10:1-10
Owen, Souriin and Euvgeni meet the
ki-rin Destiny, who takes them to a remote farm somewhere in the southern
forests. Together with Lorim Trueleaf, a young elven druid, and Ika, a
foundling child with totally black eyes, they are going to travel into
the Shimmering.
Hawthorn begins her formal tutorship
at the University of Craft and Thought.
King Anwell and Lurik Mien have a
heated argument over plans for a shrine to Artafor in the Rotan Palace.
Tekuna and Kyra Jess'a strike a deal
on the handling of the gem industry. Tekuna also promises Kyra a seat on
the Standards Board.
2705:10:11-20
Tekuna learns of a halfling splinter
group called "The Eyes of Joranth" is setting up in New Ivrea.
Owen leads a pair of ferocious owlbears
away from the rest of the party, but is caught off-guard and badly injured
by one of the pair.
Damalanthas finds a lost work by
Lemonaris. It refers to “a great island nation to the north” and tells
of the death of the Emperor – beloved of his people – and of a group of
people known as the "Overmind" who seized power after his death.
The group travelling through the
southern forests reaches the edge of the Amber Wastelands. They are hit
by a wave of amber light. Shortly afterwards they reach the towering elf-wall.
Investigating a hole in the wall, the group is attacked by a Render --
a massive beast with amber-tinged dark black fur, a jaw filled with spiked
eight-inch long teeth and shovel-like hands with immense claws leaps froms
the trees. After an intense battle, Souriin uses his magic to seal the
body of the monster deep underground.
News arrives in Rotan of armed Sunhaven
troops leaving the city and marching northwards. Some rumours claim that
they are defending their northern border against bands of elven raiders.
The Standards Board holds its first
formal sitting.
2705:10:21-30
The eye on the Disk of the Far-Sight
opens briefly, allowing Damalanthas continues to glimpse Li'kik'r and The
Hood.
A delegation of wizards from the
University leaves for Outreach. They have been given the task of establishing
a third centre for magical study in the southern city.
Tales of terrifying mutated creatures
roaming the forests of Miris begin to reach Rotan.
King Anwell admits to his closest
advisors that he has been secretly supplying troops to Fengar to help the
Nedgari dwarves defend a valuable new source of metal ores from the dark
elves. The dwarves have been forced into a retreat.
The group in the south begins to
run out of food. They are visited by strange glowing creatures of light.
2705:11:1-2
The wandering cloud giant settlement
visits New Ivrea.
Souriin, Owen and Euvgeni's group
reaches the centre of the Amber Wastelands. They engage the githyanki is
an extended battle. Souriin and Euvgeni pass through the portal created
by the Rift Machine and while Euvgeni fights off the Render, Souriin destroys
the device with his magic. Returning through the collapsing portal to the
wastelands, Souriin pours the rest of his acorn juice into the ground,
dissipating the amber tinge.
Fengar tells the King that the dark
elves have stopped advancing and seem to even have fallen back. He has
given his troops orders to advance slowly and cautiously.
Pondering a recent boom in trade
with Simipia, Tekuna discovers that there has been a steady supply of jewelery
into the rest of Ivrea. As far as she can determine, the jewelery has been
manufactured using gems from the collapsed market in mind crystals.
2705:11:3
The elven Lord Flash returns from
lengthy seclusion with a dire warning from the Head of the Druids’ Conclave
to Ivrea.
As various dignitaries gather to
discuss the news, the city is plunged into magical darkness. In the confusion
which follows, a warehouse catches fire, and in the confusion, a captured
beholder escapes. The beholder kills Governor Orik of Lerantu during its
savage spree. The Lords of Rotan trap the beholder inside a house, and
eventually the creature is slain.
Souriin and Damalanthas determined
that the Gnomish Laboratories are the source of the darkness disruptions.
They destroy a malfunctioning gnomish printing device using a barrage of
magical energies.
Investigation of the caverns beneath
the city reveal several large populations of the massive spiders, some
with the ability to fly. The Lords are concerned that the spider infestation
could be related to the underground skirmishes between the dark elves and
the Nedgari dwarves.
Damalanthas uses the Disk of the
Far-Sight to make contact with a member of the "Penrith Resistance".
After an extraordinary meeting of
the faiths represented at New Ivrea, a stream of luminescent butterflies
erupts into the air, spreading news of the coming invasion across Ivrea
an beyond.
Events after 2705:11:3 have
not yet been summarised.
