Evocation Level: Clr 3 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: 1 action Range: Touch Target: Caster's weapon Duration: 2 rounds/level (D) Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: Yes This spell is cast on the cleric's weapon, which becomes magical (with no bonus initially) and glows bright blue. The weapon is able to absorb spells of a level up to one third of the caster's level. Spells targeted at the caster are absorbed only if he chooses to exercise this power. For every three spell levels absorbed, the weapon gains a +1 enchantment bonus, up to a maximum of +5. For each spell level absorbed, there is a 5% cumulative chance that the weapon will explode, releasing magical energies. The wielder of the weapon will take 1d4 points of damage for each level already absorbed plus the levels the weapon is attempting to absorb. Nobody else is harmed by this explosion, only the wielder. Example: When cast by a 10th level cleric, this spell allows a weapon to absorb spells of up to 3rd level. If the weapon absorbs a 3rd level spell, the weapon gains a +1 bonus, but there is a 15% chance that it will explode, causing 3d4 hp damage. If the weapon later absorbs another 3rd level spell, the weapon's enchantment bonus will increase to +2, but the chance of an explosion is now 30%, and the damage caused would be 6d4. The spell can be dispelled harmlessly by the caster at any stage, but the weapon on which the spell was cast vanishes when the spell finishes. This spell can only be cast once per day by any one priest. Campaign lore: This spell
