The Ivrean calendar
is used throughout Ivrea and in many neighbouring lands. Although some
other races and cultures do use different calendars, most of those travelling
in the Ivrean lands are familiar with the Ivrean system.
Months
The year is divided into twelve
months, each of thirty days (the year has 360 days). Because the moon circles
the planet every thirty days exactly, the phases of the moon map to the
monthly calendar. The new moon always occurs on the first day of the month
and the full moon on the sixteen day -- these days are sometimes called
newmoon
and fullmoon.

Weeks
Each month is broken into six weeks
of five days. The fifth day of each week is usually reserved for rest or
feasting. Although there are formal names for each of the five days of
the week (Gish, Murn, Hoaf, Lite and Turl)
the days are almost always referred to as "the first day of the week",
"the fourth day of the week", and so on. The exception to this is the fifth
day, traditionally a day for celebrations and banquets, which is usually
called simply feastday.
