The college has regular contests but tests of skill are more than shooting at stationary bails of hay. One test involves two archers on opposite sides of a field, standing on a plank over a barrel of water. The plank is connected to a pendulum some distance to the right of the archer. The object is to dunk you opponent by hitting the swinging pendulum. You can fire as many arrows as you like, but obviously, more haste does not imply accuracy.

The college sells tickets to major competions in order to raise money. The goal is to be able to employ some full-time fletchers at the college. Flash is designing a set of graduation tests for trainee archers. This is rumoured to including a test of their ability to shoot accurately while under live fire.
